Webinar on Strengthening Potato Production through Regional Collaboration & Harmonised Phytosanitary Conditions by APAARI

A Public Private Partnership (PPP) represents a long-term collaboration between a governmental or public sector entity and a private sector entity aimed at delivering public infrastructure and services, including roads, hospitals, or water systems. In a PPP arrangement, the private partner generally assumes responsibility for financing, designing, constructing, and/or operating the project, with risks and responsibilities shared as outlined in a contractual agreement. The primary objective is to utilize the private sector’s expertise and efficiency to enhance the provision of public services and to secure necessary funding for public projects.

Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) play a crucial role in agriculture by enhancing productivity and improving the livelihoods of farmers through the integration of public sector support with private sector innovation, expertise, and efficiency. They reinforce value chains, develop essential infrastructure, promote financial inclusion for farmers, and build resilience against climate change. By combining resources, collaboratively managing risks, and improving market access, PPPs can contribute to more sustainable agricultural development and yield better results for farmers, consumers, and the entire food system.

To promote cooperation among the stakeholders to strengthen agricultural knowledge considering agricultural trade an insightful PPP CoP 7th session will be organized by APAARI. Asia-Pacific Association of Agricultural Research Institution (APAARI) is a renowned organization to Promote, coordinate and strengthen agriculture and agri-food research and innovation systems in Asia and the Pacific.

Dr. Nigel Crump, General Manager of the Australian Seed Potato Industry Certification Authority (AuSPICA) and Director of Potatoes Australia Ltd.

Dr. Nigel Crump is a potato pathologist who possesses more than 20 years of experience in the Australian potato sector. He serves as the General Manager of the Australian Seed Potato Industry Certification Authority (AuSPICA), which is an industry-focused organization responsible for managing the seed potato certification scheme in South Australia, Victoria, and northern New South Wales.
